Are your online sales lagging a bit? Not every abandoned cart is a lost sale, but with the MonsterInsights Cart Abandonment Report you can easily keep an eye on things, or make optimizations if abandonment rates seem too high. Follow this guide to learn more!

Before getting started…

To view the Cart Abandonment report, go to Insights » Reports » eCommerce » Cart Abandonment.

In the report, you’ll be provided with the following metrics:

  • Quantity
  • Revenue
  • Cart Abandonment
  • Checkout Abandonment

These numbers are available per products or per date.

If you’re noticing a high abandonment rate for a specific product, you’ll want to double check the the product page itself, the pricing and if the product is in stock.

If you’re noticing a high abandonment rate for a specific date, it’ll help to analyze traffic sources, device type, and website performance for that date. A date comparison to other similar dates can help identify any significances, while also considering the effect holidays, marketing campaigns, seasonality, competitor activity, and news events might have.

Depending on what percentage is higher in each report, here are further considerations:

  • Cart Abandonment – Indicates shoppers who do not complete the purchase or start the checkout process.
  • Checkout Abandonment – Indicates shoppers who start the checkout process but fail to complete the transaction, signalling issues with the final stages of a purchase.

It’s normal for site visitors to browse your site and do price comparisons, but by taking these steps, you can make the most of your abandonment report to help turn more site visitors into paying customers.

That’s it! You’ve learned how to use the eCommerce Cart Abandonment report.
